Held at Land of the Vikings since 1978

Land of the Vikings

This is where we hold our events. Land of the Vikings (LOV) is the cultural and recreational center of the Sons of Norway – District Three. Land of the Vikings is located on 150 acres in a peaceful valley in Northeastern Pennsylvania, 35 miles east of Binghamton, NY, and is surrounded by 5000 acres of state game land.

Over the past 30 years, LOV has been the site of Sports for Health and Ski for Light retreats, offering picturesque backdrop and rustic charm, LOV offers possibilities for a variety of outdoor activities . Visit their website to learn more.

Sports for Health

The summer program is called Sports for Health, and is a week long event held annually the latter part of July. For this program, visually impaired or blind participants are assigned to a sighted guide for such activities as:

  • hiking
  • canoeing and kayaking
  • tandem biking
  • swimming (pool)
  • fly fishing
  • horseback riding lessons (additional cost)
  • orienteering using a Braille compass
  • pistol shooting/marksmanship

The week concludes with a semi-formal dinner, and a talent show featuring any member of the group who wants to participate.

Join us for Sports for Health July 22-26, 2020 at Land of the Vikings. We are working on adding some new exciting activities. Stay tuned.
